Scrapple Records was formed in 1998 as a vehicle for the presentation of new music. Varied as the music has been since the first release, the groups relate to one another through an interest in the process of making. Most of the music on these albums was created with a rigorous method of free improvisation. Each group, though, retains distinction through the input of the individual musicians. We have all come together because we could engage in the kind of dialectic necessary to develop final compositions through a collaborative process. This process has lead to a deeper understanding of our psychological relationship and its influence on the creative product.

Between August 1998 and August 2006 Scrapple Records has released eleven albums of new music from five different ensembles.

The groups of Scrapple Records have presented their music live in venues in New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Berlin, Cologne, Munich, Paris and Antwerp.

In addition to the music available on the catalog page you can hear unreleased music on the Extra Listening page.
